Stampede Medicine Hat Cranes
Many of our customers will know Stampede Crane & Rigging in Medicine Hat under their former name of Cox Crane. Lee and Blaine Cox started up Cox Crane in 1979 in Lethbridge AB. In 1985 the brothers decided to open a new division in Medicine Hat to serve the oil & gas, construction and power transmission industries. Blaine Cox retired from the crane rental industry in the late 80’s leaving the company to his son Ken Cox. Ken and Lee agreed to split into two separate companies. The two companies now formed Cox Crane in Medicine Hat and Cox Hoisting in Lethbridge.
The early success of Cox Crane was built on customer service. Lee Cox believed that the best way to build a company was to build it on a foundation of solid customer service that focused on integrity and honesty. Whenever anyone from Cox Hoisting (now Stampede Crane & Rigging) dealt with a customer, they did it in the way they would expect to be treated.
Cox Crane began servicing customers in a time when money was flowing from the oil patch. For many companies, they expanded and built on what was commonly known as “phantom service”. Lee and the Cox crew were committed to provide service in an honest and clear way. They only billed for work they did, and made sure that the work they did do met their customers expectations. The Cox crew would bend over backwards to meet their customer needs. This is the same way Stampede Crane & Rigging (formerly Cox Crane) still conducts its business today.
